the presentation.
I was really nervous.
and I got off to a really rough start. fumbled for the first few pages, missed what I thought were important points. but after that - I just stuck to reading the material aloud and showing my overheads rather than trying to improvise & speak normally - forget making eye contact. I needed to keep my place in my notes. So I'm disappointed in myself.
BUT - DH said I did well and should stop beating my self up over it. The prof said I did well too and everyone is nervous the first time they lecture. *sigh*
I had two students ask me for help with their papers. I offered to shoot them my bibliography or answer any question once they got going, so I gave them my email address and IF I hear from them - I'll do so. It's been several days and ...nothing. So either the names I gave them are working out or they just aren't that interested.
----
on one hand I'd like to polish it up some more and maybe think about submitting it for publication... on the other - I want to put it away and not look at it again EVER.
----
I feel better now that I've put it behind me by a few days.
I realize I actually did do a pretty good job.
And I can't be expected to cover EVERYTHING. These are university students, not babies. - most of whom will never again need to know the history of belly dance anyway and if they do... they can look it up. same as I did.
but NEXT time (and there will be a next time) I WILL be more comfortable and will probably do a better job.
SO blah. Maybe next week I will read it all through and decide if I should keep polishing it.
