NO _- this can't be happening.

so - I decided to cut out the fabric for a tiered black circle skirt -

I did the measurements - calculated for seam allowance, waist band.. etc. and cut off the appropriate length of fabric.  Then washed it.

Laid it out on the floor.  Put pins in where I planned to cut and came up 6 inches short? How did that happen. Did it shrink that much? well so much for seam allowances etc - re-measure all the distances, cut the top two panels - sew them together, cut the next four panels, sew them together .  Gather, sew them to the top two panels - look at the remaining 8 panels and ... find out that the fabric has a HOLE in the CENTRE of one of the panels.  HOW THE HECK.  In brand new fabric.  *rage*

So now I have to re-calculate.  Decide if I want to go with 6 panels on the bottom instead of 8.... I suppose I could do 7 but that would be all kinds of weird when attempting to gather evenly.  Or I could recut another section of fabric off the original bolt (fortunately I have more)  and then wash it etc. and just wait to include it.

what a pain in the tuckuss. It is going together fairly well although I remember why I don't ever make anything with this much gathering.  That's another pain in the _ _ _.
