World Belly dance day.

Tomorrow is World Bellydance Day - in case you didn't know.  So get your shimmy on.

I myself will be driving 1hr 12 minutes to Ann Arbour Michigan for Detroit Raqs where I will be taking a belly dance class from the lovely Lana Mini on Saturday & then driving home.

On Sunday I will be making the same drive there & back for the express purpose of learning enough Debke that I feel able to teach or lead it as required.  I seem to be getting a LOT of requests for Debke lately and my one debke class was probably 5 years ago.  I only remember it vaguely.  Enough to follow it but not enough to LEAD.  

I tried to find someone to split the drive and maybe might have someone interested in going Sunday - but she's been sick all week and under orders to stay home because she is HIGHLY Contagious!  So seriously, I hope she decides she is too sick to go & I'll be going alone.  Finally got a TomTom/GPS  so.... it should make the trip a LOT easier.

I didn't realize tomorrow was Belly Dance day. :D Cool. I will be with my troupe practicing and making costumes. And, then we will have fooooood. :D

And, that is kind of weird. I grew up in Saline. My mother's family is there, in Ypsi, Saline, Canton, and Belleville. :) Small world.

I will be going to class tomorrow, then we are performing at two nursing homes - it's going to be a long day of dancing, so I suppose I'm celebrating, in a way!

It was fun - the second place was more lively, we stayed there a lot longer. It's always hard to gauge their reactions - a lot of them just sit there, not clapping or saying anything, but later will go on about how much they enjoyed it.

I don't do well with older, infirm people (I have no idea how to act, the same reason I'm rubbish with kids under a certain age), but a bunch of the gals in my troupe are really awesome.
