update from me
so I've gone an bought yet MORE fabric.
but I actually have part of a skirt sewn. and one pair of harem pants. The pants are in a slightly itchy fabric and a little on the sheer side... but I needed a template AND it was really cheap.
I was out shopping with my mother for fabric and she held up this fabric and I said... 'too sheer'... her reply... "when did you become such a prude?" uh yeah. h'okay. Maybe since I actually started thinking I might perform and wear these out of the house?? or maybe when my legs started showing my age, spider veins, bruising... one of the two.
I'm hoping to whip up another pair of harem pants today in another very cheap fabric. But this one I actually like. Then I'm going to head over to my mother's to steal her serger to finish the edges. she can help me with the skirt too. I need someone to help me cut the hem enough so that I can see if the design works.
I'm doing all this frantic work in preparation for a belly dance party I'm throwing at her house next week (for her birthday). I've invited mostly family and a few of her friends. I'm going to throw performance vids on the TV, do henna in the kitchen, have hipscarves for everyone and teach a few moves. It'll be fun.
I've also gone back to working on that caberat bra that I started in March? ... I found the beads I want for my trim. The biggest problem is that it comes only in 3 foot lengths and ONLY at Walmart. I've bought enough to do the bra... but I'd like two more strands for the belt before I move any further. I bought out the supply at the first store. The second Walmart doesn't have any... I have a third Walmart to try but it means a drive out to Leamington, and I haven't had time for that. I've been on line chatting with a friend about belt construction and I hope that she's going to have time to help me out next week with it.
The basement panelling is up, painted and ready for the mirrors. I just need DH to pick them up. I know they will fit in his truck and I'm not so sure about them fitting in mine. So... if he'd just pick them up ... my home studio would be that much closer to being finished!
