Tempest in Detroit?

I  just found out that TEMPEST   meddevi  will be in my neck of the woods at the end of the month.

I wonder if I can swing the cost of the workshop - or maybe at least the performance.... D*mn I was trying so hard to be good & save my money!

I can do this right? Drive through Downtown Detroit? Cr*p - I forgot that the bridge/highways on the US side has all that construction right now. 
Believe me - you do not want to get lost in Downtown Detroit.

I was also thinking I should email *what-ser-name* in London and see if she was hosting a workshop this year.

I already made the decision to pass on Virginia in Sarnia this year but I had planned on going to  Chatham - they are hosting Hannan in September & Ann Arbour having a mini conference in November.

I'm not sure I want to miss Tempest though...

and thinking it over...

I hate driving through Detroit. There's just a ton of construction at the international crossings just now and although DH offered to drive me... I don't want to be a big baby and let him. I want to be able to do this myself.

And then do I want to stick around for the performance or come home?

She now lives about an hour + from me so I have no good excuse to miss her local workshops (except that lately they've been weekends I've been out of town).

Considering you made the point of mentioning she's gonna be so close, I think you need to find a way to get to Detroit. And then after the workshop you want to stick around for the performance. Maybe even see if there are any open slots and dance yourself (you do NOT have to tribal or goth dance, in fact, at the upcoming one - that i'll be out of town for - she says its open to all styles just respect your fellow dancers).

I decided not to go to Sarnia (Virginia of Florida) although I usually attend this one every year but decided... it was not to my taste Egyptian Choreo X 2 days.

Then ... Tempest shows up on the same weekend that I'm not booked for Sarnia? Seems like Fate.

I value the performance skills. I'm just torn over staying for the performance or not. I'm thinking I'd rather drive home in the daylight is all.

I wish I'd heard back from the organizer by now....

I asked tempest and got this reply:

did she email her through the website? I know she's super-active on myspace, but on both pages, she hasn't logged on since the 8th..I think she does emailing mainly on weeknights, so I would expect her to check in this evening, which of course, is also the deadline for the early registration.
