sewing update.
Mar. 25th, 2008 08:19 am... lets see.
the gold pants - long finished. the gold vest is on hold- I can't decide if I want to finish the edges or line it - the way that the pattern says I am supposed to.
the blue cover up is cut out and partially sewn. I'd move on from here but I still have the gold thread in the serger and in order to take the next step with the blue cover up - I need to change the thread in the serger. D@mn sergers - I wish they weren't so much trouble to change the thread.
I also whipped up a little dance skirt to go to class in last night - based on a design I saw for sale at the Audra workshop. silver metallic. It was cute. I really liked it. It fits into my whole personal disdain for coin belts in class. I just don't like wearing them. I don't mind if other people wear them. I just like being quiet. probably why I dislike zills too. I think I am going to make a couple more in this style. needs a few more modifications but... it looked really cute dancing. I cut the plum into the same shape. It doesn't haveas much stretch any stretch - the silver metallic has a fair bit, so... we'll see.
I also have an idea for a top to match - so I'd better sketch that out before I forget what I want to do. I have no idea what it would be like to perform in but... if I ever make it - it will look cool.
I'm still thinking about the purple mermaid/trumpet/fishtail whatever you want to call it skirt. planning planning. I spend a lot of time thinking before I ever make the first cut.

Date: 2008-03-25 05:31 pm (UTC)My top (which I think is the vest pattern with sleeves) is lined - since I made a muslin mock-up before I cut the silk and then I trimmed it in a cool ribbon.
Patterns are only a "suggestion". If I followed the patterns, nothing would fit and it would all look bad.

Date: 2008-03-25 09:28 pm (UTC)I think it is adequate without a lining. I just want it for a little 'modesty' shrug when wearing only the bra would be too much skin...
I did not put sleeves into it. Added two inches into the back and about an inch and a half to the bottom, and another to the 'neckline' it's a little big now but... okay.
