Bellydance meets the Calgary Stampede?

the Dixie Chicks' Sin Wagon is my very favourite country song.  I stumbled on it by accident.  My library has CD's available to load and I was flipping through the stack one day ( a long time ago) and thought... hmm.  well it's free - why not.

Today someone posted something that reminded me of the song... so I looked it up on youtube but couldn't remember the song title.  I always call it  "Mattress Dancing"  not "Sin Wagon"

once I typed in the correct title... what shows up but this awesome BELLYDANCE routine !!!!  Done by some Calgary Dancers!

Quit grumbling &  watch it.  They're good!

Well, it's cute and the dancer are very good. I don't think it's something I would personally like to perform but I think it's a fun idea.

well no - I wouldn't perform to it either...or want to

but because they are from Calgary - home of the Calgary Stampede I think they can get away with it.

But I'd certainly watch it & cheer for them if I saw it. (But then I like it when people perform to unconventional music, like the Ghostbuster's theme, or Elvis or ...stuff.)

Yes, I agree. It takes courage to do something different.

I agree. It works in Calgary.

I love belly dance fusion, especially when the fusion is personal to the dancer. We had an Ottawa teacher who taught tap and bellydance and she fused them in a routine to "Istanbul not Constantinople". I have a song on a middle Eastern sampler than fuses hip-hop and bellydance. I've been scheming in my head as to how that could happen.

I saw this posted somewhere else, probably on some BD thread or tribe. I was amused, some of the repliers weren't.

I watched it with the volume down really low. ;)

I guess some people will belly dance to ANY music. But I do like Izzy's Impish Encore to Dueling Banjos. It's on YouTube somewhere. :)

my main criteria for liking music is amusing lyrics. :)

I'll have to look for the vid you mentioned.
