first off - kudos to Amazon. My order was placed a week ago friday and arrived last friday. I took a brief second to flip through the chapter selections. I was unimpressed with the performance clips.

Today I decided to try the exercise portion of the dvd.

brutal - absolutely brutal.

I had to give it up at 8 min. my knees were screaming. Granted my knee joints aren't in the best shape but - in retrospect I probably should have sat out the rest of that set and tried to resume later on but since I have a dance class tonight... I didn't want to overdo it with the DVD - I'd really like to be able to dance in class tonight after all. I'll have to try again in tomorrow? or later this week.

I tried going over the choreography for class. I'm totally lost. I feel like I will never be able to grasp a choreography. I think if the class was just a half hour longer... or if it was twice a week or ... I just get so frustrated.

On a positive note. The Jillina dvd that I ordered is the choreography that we learned (well not me because I never learn a choreography...) covered (yeah - that's it) in the eight weeks of January to April. So-o-o-o... If I work really hard... and now that I have a video instruction of it... I might actually learn it! What do you think?

The research that I am doing really makes me resent choreography. I read this stuff about belly dance being intended for the small space, not big wide open stages, with not a lot of travelling or spins and improvisational not rehearsed...complaints about the jazz and ballet influences. *sigh*

But I'd like to learn a choreography. Just one.

I emailed K about borrowing some video for my presentation. I have footage I was going to use but thought I would ask her if she had something more suited to what I'm presenting. I hope she brings them tonight but I have a few weeks yet.
