A city man who doused his wife with gas and threatened to set her on fire has been given house arrest. 41-year-old ------- -------- was given a conditional sentence of two years less a day. The crown had sought a jail term.

It is so wrong that I find this amusing.

I just... wow. the idea of dousing someone with gasoline... and then....

Maybe I'm just slow but... do you keep gasoline handy just in case you start having a spat with your spouse? If my significant other went traipsing out to the shed and came back with one of our gas tanks... I'd lock the door with him on the other side. And then if he actually threw gasoline on me... I'd be looking for a shower or a garden hose - not standing around waiting to catch the matches.

I'm surprised that all he got was house arrest though...

Then there is the teacher who is in the news for sexual assault/sexual exploitation with a student. Apparently he submitted photos of his penis into evidence as proof that his penis has 'distinguishing characteristics' which therefore prove that the photo(s) emailed to the student could not be his.
