out of touch with reality

In my little shopping frenzy yesterday, I was in a sports store (getting new running shoes).  I saw a cute little pink sports bra.  Now normally I teach in a t-shirt/tank top and just fold it up over my abdomen if/when I get warm or want to emphasize rib/abdominal movements...but occasionally I skip the middle step and just wear a sports bra for class.  So shoes in hand (great deal btw.) I mosey over to the little pink sports bra. Big time sticker shock.
$54.99  - yeah - no kidding

I guess I've been shopping the discount chains for too long.  The last sports bra(s) I got were ... I think ... 3 for $15? maybe 3 for $20.  but I think it was 3 for $15.

I haven't been in a mall in forever.  If someone wants more than $30 for a pair of jeans I don't even try them on, $20 is my usual speed. And I usually buy t-shirts in the $7-10 range.

I guess that's why those low priced chains attract so many shoppers.

So is it me? or is it them...come on seriously now.. .
$55 for a sports bra?

Wow. Yes, $55 for a sports bra seems exorbitant. I don't like to spend too much on clothes, either. They won't last, so why bother. But I will be picky about certain exercise clothes, like pants, but mostly because I have to be--just in the way they fit. If I'm going to be sweating, they must be breathable and loose in the stride area.

There are clothing stores in some cities around here that charge over $100 for a pair of jeans. I can't imagine who would ever pay that much ....

$55 would be excessive for a sports bra if I was just wearing it to dance class or something. If I was a serious athlete and was training for long distance running and that bra had great wicking and made a real difference over cheap ones, then I could see it being worth while.

I did pay over $100 for a spandex/cotton set of pants and a sports bra to wear to weights and serobics classes. I justified it because where I used to work the classes were free. I got at least a year and a half wear out of it before I was pregnant and it didn't fit.
