I painted yest. I am going to put one more coat of white on today, and walk the dogs, and do my class assignment, and if I have time practice the choreography we learned in class last night AND maybe get to work on sewing a costume.

The members of our belly dance class have been invited to a 'hafla' - essentially a party for belly dancers to be held at a local greek restaurant. I talked to my husband about going. He was excited initially but more than a little disappointed to learn that he wouldn't be welcome, as watching a good belly dancer is really something - but I did explain it to him gently and he understood that I still really wanted to go. So even though it is a Friday night AND it is also in between my two exams... Oct 22 - I'm still going to try and make it.

I did not enjoy last nights class very much. As mentioned we learned 'choreography' which I hate. I can't learn to dance the same steps at the same time as everyone else. I can know them in my head - what comes next. I can know HOW to do all of them - that's fine but to put them together in a sequence - no - can't do it. I always find I'm doing the second combination when I should be doing the third or vice versa or whatever... If I wanted to dance the same as everyone else - I wouldn't be taking belly dance. *sigh* It starts already. I had hoped we'd have a few more weeks before we got into this.

On the other hand she corrected a problem I didn't know I had. She insists that Mayas have to be done flat footed. The instructor that taught me Mayas did it with raised ankles, much easier - this instructor refers to that as "cheating." It's a little harder but not unmanageable.

She also had some of the most beautiful belts for sale after class. She had some of the routine student belts - cheap, but for $30 she was selling the most lovely beaded ones. *sigh* and I had only $10 in cash on me. So... all the gorgeous colours got snapped up first - and I wasn't going to pay her next week for something that wasn't one of my colours... I just don't wear yellow or peach. Black, red, purple, dark blue maybe?

The class continues to change size. We started last week with about 33, this week we started with about 25, about 5-8 more came in late and we added another 5 new students. We'll see how many are left at the end. For all I know I may drop out myself.

So, got to get started on my "to do" list. And if I finish all that - I can cut the grass and/or get to school early, get started on research for the papers that will be due before you know it.
