so the hafla
Oct. 23rd, 2004 07:52 amwell some of the dancers were good, very good - and some were, er, passable. Some of the costumes were lovely. People kept asking me if I was planning to dance, simply because I wore a suitable outfit with a chain belt for the after dancing. I wish I had had time to work up a solo now, but with only two days notice and an exam on Friday morning - I just couldn't see where I would find the time.
While they had said there would be open dancing after there wasn't. There just wasn't enough space.
The place was packed to the gills, so crowded barely room for the wait staff to get through, couldn't see very well either. The food was so-so, the soup and the salad was good, the meal was yuck and the dessert was overly overly sweet and that's really surprising coming from me.
There were quite a few men. 10 or so. No need to have been concerned on that end. The woman who sat across from us was very nice, chatty in a good way.
Overall I was rather disappointed. They are hoping to have one again in February. On one hand I'm torn - I'd have time to work up a solo, but on the other hand if it is the same venue - hardly seems worth it. They mentioned trying to find alternate locations - I hope so.
