In other news - I got a taste of teaching by ESP last night...

She is teaching us a new choreography... and while we all have the written sheets trying to read, hold on to a piece of paper and dance is more multitasking than most of us can manage

Usually the instructor - reads the sheet to refresh her memory - shows us the new combination and then we try it as she calls out the moves.

I don't know what was going on last night but instead of telling us the moves she was counting beats, calling things by the wrong name, and just being generally impossible to follow.

I'm going to have to learn it at home with the sheet and then try to incorporate the music in class. I have the CD but trying to do the two together... I'm not ready for that yet.

I really hate choreography. It makes me feel really stupid.

I found this great book/CD/DVD set at Chapters (bookstore) last week. put out by Carolena Nericcio of FAT CHANCE BELLY DANCE.

http://www.fcbd.com/ I hope this links to it. It was cheap! It has a music cd, a DVD, a cheap pair of zills, like I needed another pair of trash zills, and a book with pictures describing the movements.

So far - I'm liking it. I haven't had a chance to really watch the DVD yet though but for $20 - can't go wrong ... I like the music on the CD.
