Comments from the open house.

At my open house I had these little feedback forms.

I heard about this class from _________, I'd like the focus to be on _______, I want the music to be _______

with little boxes to tick as applied.

At the bottom I left a spot for "Anything else?"

I got a few comments - Awesome, I think it's great, It was fun.  I think you're an excellent teacher and dancer.

So of course I'd like to use these comments on my website...

but ONE of my students - and yes I know which one.  has a bit of a mean streak.  Just like me.

She suggested that I give a homework assignment.

"In the advanced class- each individual should have to make up their own dance and perform it at the end of the session."

hahahahahahahaha.  Okay.  that sounds awesome.  But this isn't really an advanced class - this is just my beyond the basics class.  Some of these students have only been dancing for 6 weeks - I can't wait to announce it during class next week. LOL!


 

combos for class

I made up a new combination for my students - this was in reaction to one that I read about on Bhuz a few weeks ago.

Bhuz combo - "the grasshopper" was created by a bunch of girls that liked heading to the bar after dance class.

slow forward figure 8 R, L.........(1&2, 3&4) ....... some of this & some of that
ccw medium hip circle ..............(5&6) ................. don't you spill
shimmy ........................................(7&8).................. and blend

New Combo - "the hangover"

head slide, R,L,R,L.................... (1,2,3,4)..............head slide, head slide
slow chest circle .........................(5,6,7,8)..............I don't feel so good
bodywave down x 2 .....................(1,2,3,4)..............keep it down, keep it down
ommi CCW....................................(5,6).....................whoops
undulate up....................................(7,8).....................too late.

I taught it to them last night - they really liked it.

note to self:  Save the big skirts and harem pants for events when you aren't trying to BOTH teach and dance? hmm?
