flesh toned slippers
Jun. 30th, 2008 11:21 amso I needed some -non-black slippers for dance. I already own a pair like this in black - they are nylon lycra upper with suede sole. Extremely flexible - zero support.
Unfortunately I couldn't find what I wanted in a colour that resembled a neutral usable colour.
So I bought some 'exercise' slippers in white. They were ultra bright white - let me tell ya.
And I tried to tea stain them.... and well they ended up looking dirty white. - not thrilled.
So I tried the makeup idea that the vendor suggested. After some difficulty... I managed. I'm very happy with the right slipper - the left... is a little blotchy. but I don't think anyone but me will notice.
**the correct method. Buy cheap liquid makeup that will mix well with water. (I recommend covergirl clean makeup) Mix with water in a small jar with lid - put slipper in a tray or bowl (I used plastic but...) pour over area to be coloured. blot, allow to dry. I used about... 1/3 of the bottle of makeup to do both slippers.
The first one(the left) ... I used a makeup that didn't really mix well with water - plus the container I was mixing it in... formerly held moisturizer.... and if that wasn't bad enough I attempted to apply it to the fabric surface using my fingertips. I ended up redoing it with the second method but...
