how low can you go?
Jan. 3rd, 2009 11:01 pmor rather... how high can I make the slit in this skirt?
As one of the many sewing projects for this week... I had this red velvet "dress." I never wore it - gorgeous rich texture to the fabric. But... the top didn't fit right. So I cut it in half. - to use the skirt for ... bellydance
Straight skirt. - At the moment I've finished the waistband. & I'm happy with it.
The problem is... I opened up ONE of the side seams & slit the skirt from ankle to knee. But I'm trying to decide if I should slit it higher than that.
above the knee?
mid thigh?
Insert a chiffon panel into the slit? ... I'm trying to NOT buy anymore fabric just now. I think I might have some black chiffon on hand - but I know I do not have any red chiffon.
There's only a tiny bit of fabric left from the top... I cut it a little too high because I was worried about maintaining length. Might be enough for arm bands but... not enough for much else.
