I'm in need of a solo song for an upcoming event.

Mixed audience - Mostly bellydancers, some general public, SOME - and this is important - from the local Arabic community, now whether they are Lebanese or something else I'm not sure.

My usual routine in past years has been to select something more tribal fusion because I can get away with it and I've always preferred these songs.  Last year I did sword.

This year the organizer has requested that I do wings - but I'm just not feeling it.  So I probably won't.

Point 1) I was thinking if I selected something upbeat & peppy and Lebanese or Egyptian?  - it might get me more work locally, parties and such on the other hand picking tribal fusion songs usual brings me a student here & there.
Point 2) I can't do veil because there is an out of town expert in double veil teaching a class that day and I don't want to suffer from the comparison.
Point 3)  I was thinking of maybe doing veil fans because I'll be teaching a veil fan class in Chatham in June - BUT- the problem is... a) not traditional bellydance prop b) I was planning to have my order for fans placed BEFORE May 28th day of show because... I need about a month to get the fans in before the class.

If I select something from a particular band, Felahi, I have permission to use the music & post video clips etc.

Anyway....

I've kind of narrowed it down to

Mosavo - Desert Queen - except it says it is an Armenian Love Song.... would that be bad?  I can picture the costume in my head and it would go with the classic Egyptian look.  I'd just need to make the skirt. easy peasy,  I'd kind of like to do veil with it but it could be done without one.  Down side - a bit slower & more romantic than I was hoping for.

Felahi - Banat Iskandaria - except it speaks to me as a more tribal fusion costume style... so.......defeats the purpose of going with a more classic look.

Natacha Atlas - Either Soliel d'Egypte or Kidda  - except she always kind of sad & moaning. and I was kind of hoping for something uplifting.

I've got a few Djinn songs I'm considering although - outside the traditional framework but a bit more upbeat and technically interesting...

Definitely plan to do more of an improved number than explicitly choreographed.

So I guess what I'm asking is...

If I do an Armenian Love Song am I going to risk upsetting my target audience?
The only song that is REALLY grabbing me right now is a really upbeat Balkan Gypsy number and ... although I love it... I don't want to do it at THIS particular show.
