Your age and your fashion sense will determine your response to this question.

Way back, way, way back in the early 80's there was a brief fashion trend.........short pants, banded at the knee - usually worn with heels (at least I wore then with heels...)  They were an interpretation of a dress pant.

It has taken me OVER A WEEK to remember what this style of pant was called.

Now that I can remember the NAME I can google the term.  Apparently they were made popular by Leia (StarWars) and Princess Di.  (1981-1983 apparently)  I just know that I wore them in 8th grade and thought I was super fine.  Someone had asked me what I recommended as a steampunk pant and I was thinking possibly this might work for her... but do you THINK I could remember what they were called?

of course - NOW the term knickers - refers to underwear.

So if you weren't wearing knickers,  were you going commando?

(Don't know what I'm talking about? - the pants in this image here.) And yes I wore the blouse too.
