24 toed Daisy Mae.
May. 6th, 2012 12:48 pmthat cheeseburger she had for lunch on Friday.... yeah well - she STILL has diarrhea. I gave her immodium last night & this morning. And thank GOODNESS we see the vet tomorrow.
She has the teeth of a malnourished 8 yr old - which means - yes she probably needs dental cleaning - I'm hoping she doesn't actually need teeth pulled.
She's regaining some strength - still not willing to tackle the stairs but... she's better able to wander the yard - or she would be if not for the blasted diarrhea. I think it's sapping her strength.
I'm not willing to with hold all food for 24 hrs as she doesn't know us and - that's probably not a good idea in a dog that you don't know. I'm sure I've cut her calories as she seems to be starving as she EATS everything I put in front of her. She needs to lose a few pounds and I'm letting her set her own exercise at the moment. I sure as heck can't carry her home if we get outside the yard & she collapses.
Her blood panel is - mostly okay - a few abnormalities but I would want to repeat it in a good solid month before doing anything outrageous. I'm sure her life has been utter chaos for MONTHS and her blood work probably reflects poor nutrition and lack of exercise -
oh dear. I've taken on a project.
But she's just a LOVELY girl. super sweet, affectionate & loving.
Mason thinks she's okay. He sniffed her a little and has ignored her since. Which is mostly what he did with Pandora anyway.
AND she has EXTRA TOES. Double dew claws are normal for the REAR paws but she has both FRONT & REAR - which means - she is disqualified for the show ring. Poor Daisy Mae will never be a show dog. LOL.
