Jealousy....who me?
Sep. 20th, 2012 05:02 pmokay.
I ordered this 25 yrd skirt. it arrived. It's GORGEOUS!!! Freaking AWESOME. I love the colour. VIBRANT. simply GLORIOUS. great quality - fantastic price.
But.
If I show it to my students... they are going to want the same colour. or worse - someone is going to want MINE. and really I have... a few already. Copper, Red, - I have a purple that's been for sale almost a year now, never worn.
I don't want multiple dancers in the same colour. Since some of us already have 25 yard skirts we are going to have a mix of colours anyway but I don't want to worry about clumping. you know - keeping the reds balanced or C can't stand next to J because they are both wearing the same colour.
I could of course solve the problem by making everyone order the same colour. HAHAHAHA. I'm sure the ones that already own 25 yard skirts are going to want to shell out for another one? no- not at all.
STUCK. not sure what to do.

second problem on the theme of jealousy I've been thinking about referring one of my stronger dancers to another semi local teacher. This student drives me crazy, is one of my stronger performers, but seriously she irritates me to know end. I think she would find this other instructor more in line with her current style- but she'd definitely have less performance opportunities with her - as in none. And in case you were going to suggest it. This current student already disrupts class by asking me how to do things she saw in videos, or on youtube or in a workshop or worse - says to me - well so and so - does it this way.
So -on one hand I'm tempted to be rid of her, on the other hand I need her here to help fill the performance roster - and I'm also worried that if I gave her a little push out the door - she might take others of my students with her....
It isn't my responsibility after all to keep MY students informed of all the other classes out there.... after all - it would be an entirely different thing if she discovered this instructor on her own. right?
plus this other instructor has a habit of taking off and leaving the country for 6 mos or a year or two, moving to Denmark, or England, or back home and then gone again and then... yeah.....
so - for now - keeping my mouth shut on that one too.
