Yes, songs can definitely suggest colors... for me, anyway. Something bright and quick-tempoed, that is mostly in the major chords would be a lighter, happier color. If it's playful, maybe something pink. White would go with something that sounds more ethereal IMHO. If it sounds adventurous, something more orange. If it has an earthy undertone, something more green or blue. If it's slower and more sensual or langorous, then more in the red/burgundy/purple family, although purple to me is a little more fantasy-like. If it's darker and more melancholy, just darker colors in general. If it's happy-dark and not a sad-dark (if you know what I mean) with no instrumentals, then maybe a rich brown. I dunno. These are just ideas that come to mind. I've definitely had to think about what colors would match what songs, and I find I just don't have nearly enough costumes!
