So... I am attempting to tea stain my purchased lace.

I did a small sample of it yest and it turned out a beautiful shade.  SO I am really hopeful that this will be successful.

I now have 10m of polyester lace (formerly cafe curtain lace) in a pot on my stove.  I decided to go with tea over a commercial dying product because this is a pot that I use for canning and I thought a commercial dye product might make the pot unsafe for future canning use.  If I decide to get into this (dying fabric) on a more serious basis I will have to buy another large stock pot.

In my research I have learned that - polyester - is not a good choice for successful dying of fabric. (Oh well - if I could have bought what I wanted I wouldn't need to be dying it in the first place.)

I have also seen  a few recipes that call for the addition of vinegar to the mix of tea before adding fabric - but I didn't do that the first time... and now I'm not sure if I should do that or not.

It also says to throw in the dryer to set the colour.  That I can do.

It also says to wait an HOUR for a good colour.  That is proving difficult.

Wish me luck.
