sewing
Spent most of the day sewing yest. Had to add something to the red outfit I planned to wear Wednesday night so I made this simple panel skirt to wear with the red harems& bra/belt set.
almost have the pants for HS finished. about another 1-2 hours should do that. I'll post a photo of them when they are actually finished. (cream)
then I really REALLY have to make a decision about the colour and fabric for the over skirt. I spent about 1/2 hr sketching out and doing the math for it just now. Had to get up way too early and send hubby out the door to work.
I'm hoping once I get the pants finished I can bring larger samples of fabric into the store with me to help me choose the colours. The biggest problem is ... choosing the colour. I want something that looks good with my colouring. Which is Red. Red or burgundy. always good colours for me. Chocolate would be a good choice with the pants. Pale pink might work but I'll need to see a larger colour sample. I rarely wear either colour so no idea if they look good on me. Ideally I'd have someone go with me to help choose the colour but...the problems with that... either I don't trust this person's judgement, or that person isn't available. AND all you LJ friends are just too far away to make a quick run to the fabric store with me!
And then I still have to figure out the top. *groan*
What day is this?
How many more weeks do I have? (October 25) I still have to nail the choreo. As much as I love the song - I can't just go up there and wing it.
But I really have to set the music for the Wednesday night gig. omg Why does it feel like time is just whooshing through my fingers...

If you have a cell phone with a camera, sneak some pics at the fabric store of the possible choices. ;) And then as long as look true-to-life, post 'em here!

It's a fabricstore - not...an airport!
I'm actually heading over to my mom's with a ton of fabric now... who knows. I had to put makeup on - 'cause all the colours (even red) looked bad today.
I'll get the pics posted asap (tonight)

So I took photos with colour approximations that I have on hand. I'll have them up in about a half hour?

The chocolate & cream is an awesome colour combo.
Black is a safe choice.
Pink... would be... interesting. Very Victorian underwear.
The lace dyed... a little more pink than it shows in the photos.
I'm leaning toward the chocolate & cream. Maybe doing the bra like that one from the Dahlal costume I liked a few weeks ago...

Is the lace the dyed black? I think that looks great in front of the cream satin! The pink is pretty but wouldn't stand out much next to cream.
What do you wear over the ruffle pants to keep them from looking like Victorian undergarments? They're really cool; I like them. :)

that black lace - is available in chocolate. Or I could go with chocolate or pink in satin in the same weight as the pants. I can't wear red all the time. Can I?
The pink was suggested in combination with the cream for a Degas (ballerina) look.
I think I'm going to go with the chocolate.
I think the pants are supposed to look like Victorian undergarments.

The pink and cream are cute/pretty together, if you don't mind low contrast and if the audience will be close enough to discern the color differences.
I was curious what you'd wear over the ruffled pants (at the hip level)?

I'm planning either a chocolate satin (OR lace) circle skirt hiked up in front & arranged to looking like trailing skirt with bustle? in back. Quite possibly with a thin-ish belt done in a similar same style as that red one I made. Either in chocolate or a combination of chocolate in cream... maybe with bronze jewelry type accents, or pearl, or cowrie shell. I'm also planning for that circle skirt to have a tier at the bottom - possibly with more of the tea dyed lace over the tier. Which makes me think - it may be satin - with... the chocolate lace done as gloves? or? on the bra?
Almost this look...http://tribes.tribe.net/kathleencrowleycostumecouture/photos/ee24c3c6-49f6-4fbe-bfd0-82a346bd4b4e
but more... ? Victorian? turn of the century? more of the fabric out to the hips...
