are we really so easily influenced?

...had to make a quick run to the store on Monday - needed a few essentials.

eggs, bread, body wash.

I picked up the one on sale -

"Olay - age defying contains VitaNiacin"  Body wash.

*Whatever*  it was $2 cheaper than all the other bottles.

So today I was having a nice hot bath... and didn't have a book - I like to read in the bathtub.  I picked up this bottle and read the back...
  • cleansing - gentle cleansing formula with a clean rinse.
  • moisturizing - nourishing Olay moisturizers enhanced with VitaNiacin penetrate deep within the surface to condition the driest skin for up to 24 hours
  • age defying - Olay moisturizers fight the dryness associated with skin aging - revealing younger looking skin
  • Directions for use in shower or bath: Squeeze a small amount of product onto wet puff.  Lather and rinse.  Store bottle upside down for ease of dispensing.  For Shaving: use Olay Age Defying Body Wash as a shaving aid, then rinse.
  • **** Formerly Normal Skin Body Wash********
no really... Formerly Normal Skin Body Wash.  Same product - new name? Suddenly it is 'age defying'?

There you go.  Clearly I'm not marketing myself correctly.

Welcome to the new super deluxe, life enhancing, [livejournal.com profile] dancingleaf with vitamins, rainbows & tiaras.

They probably added something to it, and that meant hey, let's make a new product! Products only last so long, and with trends being on age-defying and the forever-youthful beauty shtick...

And then for those that still wanted the old stuff--and they probably stopped selling it--they may have added that disclaimer to try to keep the old customers as well as gaining new ones.

But the last sentence totally cracked me up. I'll be laughing all day now, thank you for brightening my morning! :D

So THAT'S why I haven't been able to find the normal, regular stuff.
Though now that it's changed it's name due to a marketing gimmick, not sure I'll buy it again.
