My inclination would be to get it in black....if you think you'll get the most use out of that color, why not have your black one be of the highest quality? Make sure to get the matching arm goodies and headband, too. :)
The trumpet skirt from that pattern is a pretty close approximation of the L. Rose ones. I recently made one out of red luxury velvet. I'll post pics after I add the waistband.
Just make sure you cut out a smaller size, since the pattern isn't made for stretch fabrics. I cut out the smallest size (size 10), and still had to take both skirt designs in by a few inches. I didn't add a separate piece for the waistband, like the pattern calls for either. I had to lengthen the pattern anyway, so I just added enough so I can just fold the top over to make a casing for the elastic.
