uh oh....

looks like my washing machine may have washed it's last wash.

it is currently full of water and won't spin, won't drain.

It is 18.5 years old.  And we've moved... a lot.  So really it doesn't owe us anything but... really pick a bad time?

Guess I'm looking at new washing machines tomorrow and weighing that against a service call.

Yes, we took it apart but... cannot easily see the problem - and really 18 years?

Oh dear. Hm. Fan belt and plugged drain? Those would be my first thoughts. You could call for a service call and get an estimate.

On the other hand, prices are going down, down, down in an attempt to get people to buy things. 18.5 years is a decent age for an appliance.

Hubby *thinks* that the local appliance dealer has an offer where they will apply the cost?(half the cost?) of your service call against a new purchase if you decide not to repair & buy new with their shop. So that's where I'm headed first.

Plus they deliver & haul away the old at no charge so... first stop!

yeah we're thinking pump. but...is it worth fixing? I'll be asking.

I hope your good karma carries over to your next washer. I highly recommend a top loading Fischer Paykel - they have a two year manufacturer's warranty (all other brands only have a one year). Any new unit will probably be very fun, though! They're much more energy efficient and if you go all-out, you can get some really fun colours!

Not likely we will go all out given current circumstances. but will definitely be weighing the water/energy aspects of a new model.

Yep, time to get a new one, methinks...that's a good while to last though.
