oh heck NO.

even if I was - I need to wash the windows & paint the porch and clean out the garage

and crank up the music and practice my zills and work out some new choreography and play with my sword (the big sharp one - not a euphemism for whatever you were thinking)

today I am just cleaning and playing the tunes too loud. (and teaching tonight)

I think yours is the Balady right? can you measure it for me? Mine is too long and I'm trying to get an idea of what a good length is.

Which one? I have two. :) The one in my userpic is the first one I bought, at Rakkasah. I think I saw a website with the name of the sword but don't know where it is now. The second one I bought is the Baladay Scimitar from Kult of Athena. Gimme awhile; I'll check and get back to you. Gotta eat something right now!

must be something wrong with my monitor. That costume colour looks like a hideous combination of hot pink with weird washed out red. No one would design that combination intentionally.

The performance was pretty awesome. loved the back bends and definitely stealing some of those moves.

Okay, my sword in the userpic is 34.5 inches end to end. 47 inches sounds like a lot to handle. The Baladay Scimitar, laid next to it, is about two inches shorter but the blade has a sharper curve to it. I like the length of my original sword better. It's easier to handle for martial arts-type moves, twirling it with my hand, or balancing on two fingers. The Kult of Athena scimitar is really only good for balancing on top of my head, which with the other sword is undeniably more difficult, but with enough beeswax and hairspray (and practice), it's manageable. Filing notches into it at the balance point definitely helped with that, though!

Okay, I looked at it again. You're right. I didn't see it before, but it does look like pink and *ugh* red. I hope it's our monitors because that is NOT a good color combination.

I've got a lot of pink stuff and fuschia I'm trying to figure out how to put together, along with black. Hot pink and black would be okay for me, hmmmm. :)

Okay, now a (costuming) question for you: I've been looking around online. Where can I find either a lightweight silk skirt in black OR lightweight black silk or some other BREATHABLE fabric for harem pants to be worn underneath a [different color] circle skirt? I don't want to try to make something like that myself, although I will if I have to. I hate sewing delicate stuff like silk. Most of what I've found is chiffon or satin--neither of which I can nor want to wear for that part of the costume.

Ideas, plz? :) TIA.

Oh, yeah! I even had a bookmark for them in my Dance favorites. ::head-desk:: *L* Cool. Looks like they have just about everything I'm looking for. I don't see a photo of the silk harem pants, though; is there a link somewhere that you know of?

Good thing I'm looking into this fairly early since it takes 3-4 weeks for items to arrive!
