red? not so much.

so I picked up some temporary hair colour.  :(

the more I look at it the more it looks more brown then red.  *whines*  it was the reddest they had!

red mahogany.

blah.

I'm thinking I should have gone with the black.... at least that would have been a change.

If I want real red I'm going to have to go with a permanent colour -   .... or go back to looking at henna.

now I have to decide to either put it through my hair now or wait until next week.....

How red do you want? Like, a koolaid vivid technicolor red or something more natural? Because I can find out what kind of stuff you need at your local beauty supply store to make the reddest red you ever saw:

It's not from a box, but fairly simple to do. It might be darker depending on what color you're starting out with. Let me know if you want the deets!

purple red? burgundy? something like this maybe...

My problems are
-I'm starting with dark brown,
-I have waist length hair and I don't want to loose the length so while I am willing to add colour - not willing to bleach.
-And I like to wear red clothing - so... nothing that will make it impossible to wear red?

I will try to get a decent photo of this temporary colour - It's not terrible and perhaps the best I can hope for with my dark brown base...

appreciate the help - thanks.

Unfortunately, starting with dark brown hair and waist length to boot, your best bet for a vibrant red like your picture is to go to a salon and have it professionally lightened and then colored that shade. Dark brown doesn't take reds well and at best they come out a dark auburn color (I have medium brown and have trouble getting reds to show or stay as well).

I'd recommend finding a good salon and bring a picture of the shade you want and let them handle how to best get it.

auburn isn't so bad.

I'll live with this temporary colour for a bit and decide if I want to keep it.

At the moment it's auburn/black - and I kind of like it. I just need to check it against my favourite costumes but I think it might work...
