movie review...

the movie Blindness...with Julianna Moore...

SUCKS.

do not waste your time watching it.   It was so not worth it.

I picked it up from the library so ...... even though I did watch it in bits over the course of a week - I will never get that 2 hrs back.

Oh god, agreed. I couldn't even finish it. I was so bored about the time when she went out to ask for the shovel from the guards and flipped them off that I just stopped watching before I passed out. Did anything remotely interesting happen at the end? It was so lame I never got that far.

I was sad, cause I love Julianna Moore.

...lets see...

-the guys in Ward 3 took all the food, they had a gun.
-they demanded valuables in exchange for food
-when the valuables ran out they demanded women/sex
Julianna (Ward 1) went with it the first time. Cue scenes of nudity/violence layered with either too white/too black screen to actually see what was happening. One of the women died.
Then when she could hear the same thing happening with the Ward 2 women She took the surgical scissors & stabbed & killed the main bad guy.
After that back in Ward 1 they were debating whether or not they should give up the 'killer' rather than have war between the wards when someone snuck away and set fire to Ward 3 - resulting in most of the people escaping & the bad guys from Ward 3 dying.
- then they found out they were no longer locked in the compound. So everybody leaves.
- Julianna takes a small group back to her house in the city- She finds food hidden in a grocery store because only she can see/find the keys for the storeroom - She gets attacked but gets away with some of the food.
- It rains, everybody rejoices in showering outdoors (more female nudity)
- They have a big celebratory meal - yeah welcome to the commune.
- Next day they wake up & the first guy that went blind can see...

the end.

It had potential... it just never really gelled.

Blah! So they never say what caused the blindness nor why she's the only one who can still see??

Dear Move scriptwriters: Unless there is some greater meaning behind your movie, you cannot just make shit happen without some sort of nod to WHY it's happening!

Ugh. So glad I stopped watching, I only lost an hour of my life, not two.

there was a really really brief scene where Julianna wanders into a church where all the statues and all the paintings/stained glass have blindfolds tied on/painted on... and someone is talking/giving a sermon about St. Paul being stricken blind for punishing the Christians but no - other than that... they never go into the cause.

I really like her. That's too bad. :(
