so despite the snow I decided to head into the city AFTER I cleared the driveway of snow.

now we didn't get a lot of snow 4-6 inches maybe.... and really it shouldn't have been that bad - but I live in the county - which means - country roads. that don't really get plowed that often, or salted, or see a LOT of traffic.

So I jump in my vehicle and head off to the city.

Mistake one.
I took my usual route into the city. The town roads looked good. So I grabbed the short-cut road that takes me there ... however because it is farm country there were drifts across the road - everywhere. I spun out into a 180 just as I approached one of the more travelled areas. SCARED THE PANTS OFF MYSELF. Fortunately I was okay - as was my truck and I did NOT end up in the ditch.

At this point I should have turned around and went home. BUT I was now going to be on Well travelled road so I should be okay right?

Mistake two.
Drive slowly. Fine. Keep your vehicle under control. Fine.
Still dealing with some drifting here and there but mostly okay. UNTIL I get into one of the busiest sections of my journey. On my LEFT is a SEMI who is mostly in the turning lane to TURN left but because of the snow... maybe he can't see where the lines are because he's also IN MY LANE - do you think I can pull over more into the RIGHT LANE? No because there a FREAKING SEMI in the right lane hogging up all of his lane. I thought I was going to be a baby Aztek sandwich there.

Should have stayed home. Should have stayed home.

I am planning on staying home from NOW until MARCH. maybe APRIL.
