Adventures in a cell phone age

so J picked me up a cute little cell phone on the weekend.

It has a fancy little slide out screen for texting - which I don't do.
and it's a pretty colour, with a changeable cover.  Ooooooooooooohhh pretty.

I have NO IDEA how to do anything other than make a call.

but really - that's all I wanted it for.  all the rest of my calls can just go to the home answering machine anyway.  RIGHT?

Why should I need to be reachable 24/7?  I don't.

I did have a cell phone a long time ago.  One of those big heavy ones when they first came out... about 10 yrs ago.  But when it stopped holding its charge and wouldn't hold its minutes for very long I shoved it in a drawer and stopped carrying it and then eventually donated it to one of those programs or other somewhere.

That's sweet. Which phone did you get?

No worries - I will NOT break into a Madonna song - especially not that one!

My cell phone is very basic. No slide-out keyboard, no easy 'net access. It's really just for phone calls.

My husband won't even have a cell phone. There are times I don't like being tethered to one, either, so I just turn it off.

I wouldn't have one either except the accident freaked me out quite a bit and I decided my sanity & safety were more important than the money a cell phone would cost me.

After all- I only get charged for the calls I make on it - and if I don't make any - the money should last a good long time.
