Arizona for Seniors....
So my mother would like to go to Arizona for two weeks next February and has asked me to look into it for her.
She has never really travelled much before, certainly not as far as Arizona.
I would like this to be as easy as possible for her.
She wants nice dry weather, and to sit poolside and read. She doesn't play golf or tennis, she doesn't hike or birdwatch. She's not a gambler. Not very religious or much for night life, she generally goes to bed about 8pm.
She shops a little, I don't think she is interested in seeing the Grand Canyon but... who knows.
She is an occasional smoker - which means she doesn't want a smoking room but a place where she can sit outside and smoke one of her 4 daily cigarettes should be fine. She has a (f) friend that may or may not be interested in going with her - so may need a room with two beds.
1) Where in Arizona should she go?
2) Are there package deals/all inclusives?
3) should she look into a condo type arrangement rather than a hotel?
I'm hoping I can find a car service that will pick her up at the airport and deliver her to her hotel or perhaps have the hotel pick her up/drop her off so she won't need to rent a car. So a downtown or walking distance to shops might be nice.
And she's 63 - so not 65 if she needs that to qualify for special rates or deals.

"The only thing that even comes to mind at the moment is old town Chandler and San Marcos Hotel- of course, probably because I live about a mile from. When she wants "walking distance to shops" that is about the only place I know that offers that. Our senior discounts begin at 55, and our cities have smoking ordinances so that's one that my dad has a tough time dealing with out here. It includes certain distances from any public place. And most hotels offer shuttle services to/from the airport. Depending on how much she wants to spend, she couldn't go wrong with a resort up in Scottsdale. It will be very pricey and not sure if there is a shuttle service into Old Town Scottsdale, but that is such an awesome "tourist" place with tons of neat shops and restaurants."
