spoiled?

So DH is reading Harry Potter at a much slower pace than I am.  He's a slow reader and has this bizarre ability to put a book down - I don't understand it myself.  If a book is really gripping, really good - don't you have to find out how it ends?

In any case, I promised to try not to spoil it for him.  It is hard because, obviously, I want to talk about it and the other stuff I'm reading about what other people think of the ending.

We were walking the dogs last night (*as we do every night) and I stopped myself just before I said something... only to find out that  someone had  already spoiled it for him.

It seems that some people at lunch were discussing the book and told him that Harry dies in the last chapter.  I said - who told you that? That's not what happened.

So either way it is spoiled sort of - I told him he'd have to read it for himself to find out the  how and the what. 

I just wish he'd hurry up and read it already!

I was good at avoiding spoilers, but when I briefly went to Shoppers on Sunday, some guy opened a copy and started describing the last two pages to his kid. Grrr.


Now I am done, so I fear no spoilers!

that's tacky. I tried to get my copy at Shoppers - save myself the drive into Windsor. Alas - they had a sign on the door saying they were sold out at 10 am.
