I do like DVD's but I think it is because I already have the basics behind it, so it is more of a reminder or cue than an instruction tool. I like the Neena and Veena ones - I know you don't, but I have a few of theirs. I hate the Rania ones that I have- ugh they are awful. And I also have a Kathy Smith one- I rather like it for all that Kathy herself is not a very good dancer and the reviews of it are a little ambivalent - I love the costumes and the background dancers are excellent. Kathy's instructions are pretty good even if she does come across as more aerobic instructor than dancer.

I'm not going to correct the other students, if someone asks me for help - I'd be happy to but ... they all know I get there early and practice for 20 minutes before class starts and if they want to waste that time chatting that's their business. I'm going to take advantage of the time to stretch my old bones and practice in front of those big beautiful mirrors.

This class that I'm taking is run by campus recreation - at the university - therefore subsidized by them. Maybe you could find something similar? Universities, colleges and community centres often offer low cost alternatives. I'm taking this one because it is basically 1/3 the cost of two other teachers I know of. Cost is definitely something I'm concerned with too.
