Ayanna - in Swahili means beautiful flower.  in Hindu it means innocent.

innocent?  oh yeah.  well okay... that's like naming the geeky, clumsy kid - Grace.

So? You can choose whatever name you wish! It doesn't have to fit your personality precisely IMHO. Besides, who's to say someone isn't innocent on one level or another when you really get down to it. And innocent of what? ;)

but was afraid that people would mispronounce it... into any anna.

I had a name that I made up using a couple of methods, one of them rather silly and superstitious, but I like the name. I haven't told anyone. Not sure I'll ever actually use it, but it's very unusual. Doesn't have any particular meaning though, but I don't care. :)
