new hip scarf.
I mentioned my new hip scarf in the email to my instructor
I was so afraid yest before I started it. I'm was afraid of committing to it. Once I begin cutting fabric and put it on the sewing machine - I have to see it to completion... until then it exists in perfection in my mind. Once the first snip is made the possibility of error and disaster is upon me.
BUT I have just about finished sewing and it looks FABULOUS. I'm so impressed.
It looks WOW. better than the one I actually bought and paid money for! I just hope the beads don't fall off. I'll be looking for some fabric glue today to dot a little on the beaded portions that look iffy. That's the problem when you are working with pre-sewn trim - they don't secure things as well as I might have. But now that it is nearing completion and it looks so great I want to be sure it lasts.
I may actually post a picture I'm so pleased with myself.

THAT's COOL!
OOOH OOOOH! I had my first bellydance class last friday. It went pretty well. I'm still a bit sore from it. Having an instructor is just so much better than using a video.
Re: THAT's COOL!
-I took a yard of chiffon, folded it in half on the bias sewed the open sides of the triangle, leaving a small section so I could turn it inside out.
-tried it on. Sewed some pre-beaded trip up to about two inches from the knot. along the bottom and then added the same beaded trim along the top fold.
took one yard of chiffon and less than two yards of beads.
I will try and get a photo up asap. not likely before next week though - my camera is on the fritz.

THAT'S COOL for you too. Lessons ARE so much better than video - video is great for practicing once you already know what you are doing but nothing really compares to learning it from a teacher in person. Plus you get this weird energy from being in a class full of women who are having fun learning ways to move their bodies. THAT is ultra cool.
soreness - oh yeah. I hear ya.
