If I hear one more person say - oh but I want my friend to take it with me and....

You do not require a partner to bellydance.

Sure it's fun to do things with your friends but... for heaven's sake people. 

ARE YOU A GROWN UP OR WHAT?

Can you go to the bathroom by yourself and everything?

If I could think of a more polite way to phrase this I would put it up on my website. 

"no partner needed"  or "come make new friends"  ( you know ... new and better friends that - actually like getting out, laughing and dancing more than sitting around talking about it.)

Actually this would make an interesting poll on some of the bellydance websites.

Did you sign up for your first class by yourself, or with a friend?

I signed up with a friend of mine way back when. Made a new friend too. Took classes on and off (mostly off) for the intervening 7 years. Another friend of mine started teaching locally, I put off taking her classes (LAZY!!!) but finally signed up with her classes and her former teacher's classes.

So I guess it's been friend involvement but more to get me off my butt and get it shimmying!

Same things goes for working out. I started taking workout classes and about a year later managed to drag my BF along. It's more fun with him there because we push each other (though the instructors push us also) and can gripe together about how much such and such move hurts now LOL
