tack on to the sewing post.
Mar. 17th, 2008 09:59 pmI also went through some of my boxes of fabric (3 rubbermaids bins & 1 bankers box believe it or not...) and found way too much green cotton fabric. I hate green - (got it for free) so I'm planning to experiment and make a 10 yard - 3 tiered skirt. If it works I may try it with fabric I actually paid for. Don't know what I'll do with it after - sell it, give it away - who knows. As much as I'd like to play with one of those big gypsy skirts I'd never wear it - (I hate green, green hates me.) But that's way down on the sewing list.
And my SIL needs me to shorten some curtains for her. Better get cracking on my own stuff.

Date: 2008-03-18 03:19 pm (UTC)Sewing is very labour intensive and unless you are sewing for yourself - not really cost effective. And despite the fact that I need money- I'm not willing to undervalue my labour.
Sewing for my friends ... on the other hand... don't mind a bit. :)
It's funny - when I was looking for a pattern for the tiered skirt. One of the sites said: "Don't bother to sew it yourself. Too much time, energy and labour involved. Just buy one."
