finally spent an hour or more doing a complete musical break down of Amarain by Amr Diab.  my next choreography project.

Yes I am musically challenged which makes it harder than you think.

Basically I break it down into segments of roughly 30 seconds or less.  I cut them into bits and save them individually so that I can choreograph them independently - for the purposes of teaching.  If it was just me - I'd wing the whole d@mn thing.

Amr Diab is a big favourite among my students.  The song is pleasant enough.  There's a goodly amount of repetition.   I don't hate it.  yet.  A little more Egyptian pop than I'd like, AND in Arabic - yippie.  It's a big advantage to have lyrics in English... *sigh*  (I did find a translation on Shira's site so that was very helpful.

so ... now I just have to put movements to the segments.  *groan*

the lyrics are particularly lame.

but... it's repetitive and... that makes it easy for beginning choreographers (like myself) and beginning students (like mine) I don't want to teach choreographies off DVD's like some people... so... If I want to make them myself - I have to pick the easy repetitive songs.
