Apr. 16th, 2007 08:48 amAva was pretty fabulous... out of all the workshops I've attended... this would have to be either...
2nd or 3rd fav. I've definitely come away with a few combinations that I can use but... I have a lot of work to do in order to retain them.
Aziza - was the BEST. And I'm having trouble placing this one at either 2nd or 3rd in order with the FIRE one... You guys remember how enthused I was about FIRE! probably it rates after the fire one. Rachel Brice was awesome but I don't think I really learned much. I was just there to bask in the glory of her awesomeness.
I ended up a little frustrated at the end of the second day... there was a lot of emphasis on the foot work. which is something that I struggle with. I can get it - it just takes time. time that you don't really have in 2 hrs when she's throwing a whole wealth of information at you.... you know.
So I got a little huffy when we broke into groups and there were too many people deciding what we were supposed to do as a group. I just walked away... I struggle with foot work. I accept it. When I'm trying to get something - I don't need 3 different people trying to argue out what we are going to do for step 5 while I'm trying to chain together steps 1-3. It got to the point where I can't hear what you are saying (because of all the noise in the room - I can't follow what you are doing because two of you are doing different things and the other person is asking ME how do you do that? hell if I know! I just walked away - better for me - I had time to make some notes.
My ankle held up well - I was anticipating difficulties because Ava's another one that works on releve (dancing on the ball of foot with heels lifted) a lot. That position is particularly hard on my ankle and either we didn't work with it much, I've strengthened it enough or was able to modify it to take it easy.
On the REALLY TERRIBLE front... Audra - who is this amazing tribal performer... I love her style. I love her clothes. I love her costuming. I usually love her music....(overall she is very similar to Rachel in style, music choices & costuming...) She did an amazing performance... and had her truck broken into while she ran in to the afterparty. Had all her tribal jewellry stolen and her costume. Which is so stupid. Who on EARTH would be able to use that stuff. only another bellydancer and jeez - we all know that SHE was wearing it... if it shows up on someone else... Duh! What a shame... She had an amazing song...
Missed Me by the Dresden Dolls. (I so love this song.) I've listened to it 3-4-5 times this morning. I'm definitely going to have to buy it.
One or two of the other performers attending the after party had their vehicles broken into and the bags with costumes stolen... They were all parked right on the street. Essentially right in front of the bar and auditorium where the performance was held. It really sucks is all I can say. What were they looking for? cameras? Everyone is hoping that it turns up in a dumpster or something.
I think I will phone the mall and see if one of the music stores has my NEW CD!!!! 'cause I have to have IT!
