so I broke down and created a facebook profile.

I didn't want to but realize I need one for business purposes. Idiotic things.

Aiyanna Bellisima  - is the name that I'm listed under. 

I'm really uncomfortable with the whole - THEM going through your email list to see who else you know on facebook? that seems - terrible. intrusive and seriously wrong.

I had a Facebook and then totally forgot about it for six months. I think I cancelled it a couple weeks ago; sorry!

I think a lot of the Facebook invading your privacy hype is just that. Most people that run into problems are either 1) criminals who get upset when the news uses their Facebook picture for a TV picture when reporting on them (yes - we had that in Ottawa in 2007) or 2) teenagers who do stupid things like posting pictures of themselves drinking, smoking pot, showing their underwear and then get upset when the university or job they are applying on find out and it comes back to haunt them.

I've been on Facebook for over a year and nothing bad has happened to me. I've got back in touch with some relatives and people I used to know but lost touch with because normal people didn't even have email when we lost touch. My philosophy with Facebook is to not post anything that I don't want everyone in my life seeing. (So I post way more content on LJ).

Beyond that, you control things. You are using your dance name, so most people wouldn't even be able to find you. If you have a private profile so that no one can see it unless they are your friend, or don't post pictures then you aren't really losing any more than on LJ.
