That's probably true, the writing down throughts instead of letting them stew in your head. I have a private journal for those ramblings, and it does help.

Maybe you need to try other things to relieve stress besides just journaling. Hot bath? Meditate? Walks in nature (uh, when it's warm)? Good sex? ;) Massage (if it's affordable or free!)?
