yup.

Painted a third coat this morning.  Removed all the tape.  It looks okay.  The condition of the walls makes me think maybe there is wall paper in the future.  OR something.  Really shows with the higher gloss bathroom paint.  I would have spent more time trying to patch the (old) plaster but she wanted it painted asap.  She claims she & my dad are old.  Their eyes aren't that good & she can't see the obvious flaws that I'm seeing.

Walked the dogs.

Surfed the web.

bored.

going to go have a bath & then... I don't know - read or something. blah.

The number of paint coats will not fix any actual structural problems underneath. The walls aren't textured, right? That's what makes them harder to work with. It is possible to fix uneven areas and holes; you just have to make sure you sand it really flat & flush with the wall afterward. But, it sounds like the job's already done.

I haven't had even a moment to BE bored yesterday & today, sheesh!

Enjoy your weekend! :)

The problems are from old water damage. It's a bathroom. The house is 40 (or more) years old. There's a spot near the ceiling looks like maybe an old roof leak? Plaster cracked but no mold or anything. and a spot near the tub edge looks like water run off from the shower. IF it was my house I would have patched & sanded the areas but... they just wanted the wallpaper gone & the walls painted.

The third coat was because they thought they could still see the old blue paint showing through.

Higher gloss paints emphasize wall flaws. Flat paints more likely to minimize.

Bathrooms are always painted in higher gloss.

similarly... I know additional coats of pain are not going to fix the structural problems.
