....I bought this fantastic  snake skin (tans/browns) patterned fabric about a week ago.  - Stretch fabric too.  The only problem is that it is a little on the sheer side.

cheap too.

the problem is I can't decide what to do with it!

I absolutely love it.

The problem is ... too many choices.  Initially  I was thinking of doing gauntlets & a simple drape that went over one shoulder and went to the hip just to act as a quick costume change so that I could do the first two numbers in it then take 2 seconds to get out of it and make it look like I managed a complete costume change.

Then I was thinking... maybe a ghawazee coat. 

Yesterday I was thinking that if I layered it... I could do pants with a panel skirt and that should take care of the too sheer aspect of it... but if it was still too sheer - I could make a pair of flesh coloured shorts for under that.

It's gorgeous fabric.  I may go back and buy the rest tomorrow.  I bought 3 meters.  but there were only 3 more on the bolt.   Just after all those months of being frugal I couldn't come home with 6 meters of fabric when I didn't know what I wanted to do with it...

I'm having major costuming dilemmas. I have some really nice fabric but yeah, I really don't know what to do with it. I have some really cool flared pants with matching gloves, but they're very, uh... I dunno, either nightclub-ish or Tribaret something but I don't think a circle skirt would match over them, and they would need something underneath to act as shorts, but those are hell for me and need to be very specialized (long, long story). I have stuff that would match silver better but have a lot of gold accessories. Turkish cotton hot pink harem pants that don't match anything else, but I LOVE them.

Also, this costuming problem is clashing with "what sort of choreography am I going to do??" So either I get a damn costume together that matches which style of dance I want to do, or else I match my dance with whatever costuming stuff I mostly have on hand, arrggh! If I just had a few different things to choose from: a Gypsy skirt/outfit, a Tribaret costume, a nice Egyptian or Lebanese cabaret costume, etc. (Forget Turkish--I hate that costume and will probably just sell it.) If I continue tearing my hair out, I won't have enough left to put into a ponytail! o.0

so these - flare pants with the gloves... could you do either a panel skirt or one of those short - flirtie skirts I think they are called over the pants. I do panels skirts all the time. And have actually decided that that is going to be part of my 'troupe' look.

I hear you on the mixing silver & gold. It always feels like my stuff is the wrong colour.

AND absolutely... the costuming depends on the song & style.

Thanks. So... the flare pants have little breather holes throughout (very small and somewhat close together). So do the gloves. They don't look tribal at all, really. I thought about a panel skirt over the pants. Might work. :) Gotta try it. I think I've found a song that would work with that sort of look, with maybe, hmmm, hot pink or purple with black and gold? (I'm looking into it.) I don't think I'll mix metal colors, but what about accessories, like beads and coins? One seems very cabaret and coins more tribaret, I suppose.

Now the only thing is, if I do a cane routine, I'll probably have to have a costume change for the other routine(s)! ::sigh:: Well, I've got a few more weeks to put it all together.
