bra top construction....

can't remember if I mentioned it before... but... it's been lying around - and I had been thinking to make a matching bra top to go with the gold pants. Pattern is absolutely ancient. ($1.50??? - got to be from the 60's or 70's)
I had just enough black cotton lying around. The mock up turned out okay - Had to make some adjustments. Extra dart in the upper bust. and take it in a good inch or two in the centre....
but I really don't like it...

because the strap ties behind my neck. I hate straps that cross the top of the neck - it's like I have a point in my spine that says... don't touch me here. - oh well - I tried loosening it off- I tried just pinning it so there would be no knot there but... it just feels like it pinches the spine. So that would hardly be good for dancing in. I wonder how extend the straps in order to modify it into X back....
