limp as a wrung out dishrag- Kami Liddle
Jun. 1st, 2008 09:31 amthe Kami workshop was brutal.
I'm not sure if it was because I've been feeling so tired and run down lately but... by the end of the workshop I just wanted to crawl into a hot bath and then go to bed. I feel the same today.
The first two hours were strengthening exercises, some seated on the floor drills where we drilled the upper body to isolate the movement, confining it to the upper body and keep it out of the lower body -( some I recognized & Kami acknowledged as - Suhalia exercises.) We did some standing drills also.
No surprise to me that I need to spend more time on my undulate bottom to top AND isolating my lower ab contraction. I also need to remember (& drill into my body) that tribal has a higher neutral chest location.
Keep in mind the subject of the workshop was Drills - so - no surprise that Gee, we did a lot of drills.
The second part of the workshop was putting some of the stuff into combos. Some cool steps - hopefully I took good & enough notes to retain the material for later use. Normally I would have come home and tried video taping the combos but I was just completely wiped out. (and still am.)
We all were sweating buckets so I don't think it was just me. The room felt comfortable until - you started dancing - then it got too hot - very rapidly.
Points on Organizer
-plus - good size room, easy to find location
-minus - flipping around with different sound systems - deciding that the first one wasn't loud enough and the second didn't work smoothly - and neither allowed Kami to use her ipod.
-minus - only vendor was Kami with BDSS merchandise, don't know if that is in the contract but I came ready to shop and there wasn't much shopping.
Points on Kami
-minus - I'm feeling my age these days, and my knees are fragile. I don't kneel on floors without some kind of cushioning under my knees. Yoga mats would have been appropriate - but even for those people who had brought yoga mats - she dismissed their use as unnecessary and didn't allow time to get them out or put them away.
-minus - although she'd said initially we'd rotate rows - it didn't happen until the very very end- once. I didn't complain because I had a decent view and was okay - I imagine if someone had spoken up she would have remembered to rotate the rows. She did come out into the back rows a few times to demonstrate combos from there.
-very minor - her combos were good but she was a little confused about how they went together initially - that's okay - I'm like that myself some days.
-plus - combos & steps were good. I expect to be able to modify and use them.
-plus - she came around and corrected individuals frequently
-plus - wonderful & warm personality.
-plus - I felt like I did learn a lot but that I would need a once a week class with her or something to get the most benefit.
Overall - I'm glad I went but... I rate the experience as a 7/10. I'm sorry I missed the show - Kami has amazing muscle control and ability but I would have been even more of a wreck if that's at all possible without the tub soak & the glass of wine.
