My internet has been down ALL DAY.  I have no idea why it is working now? when it was giving me grief seriously ALL DAY.  I even have the cable guys coming out tomorrow to check it out and I'm not cancelling them either!

Deity knows how long my internet will be cooperating. ugh! although hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow.

Why would it work sometimes but not others? Off peak hours?  Who knows - I pay enough for my connection SO IT BETTER D@MN WORK!

You want to know all about the performance? right?

I was awesome!
My costume was fab.

I was complimented.

I have minimal photos because... my husband doesn't know how to work a frick'n camera.  Although to cut him some slack it is tough to photograph movement.

the one *good* photo - he cut off half my head. Thanks hunny.

More than time for me to get some professional photos done and now I have a selection of costumes & props.  I'd be happy to work with an amateur but I need a decent backdrop(s).

Check my flickr to see if I got them uploaded or not.

I am only up now because I am still sick and had a nightmare
plus I left the computer up & running scans to see if that might help. :(

when it actually connected I decided to take advantage of the momentary connection and update, check the email etc.

Most digital cameras have a setting for sports or movement, and also for lower light photography (even without a flash). And keep in mind, the more you try to zoom, the blurrier the photo can get, esp without a tripod.

Still, the photos are fab. :) I hope you get your computer/internet thingie figured out!

I think it's working... except maybe it isn't.

- so why do photos of dancers turn out better when I take them. (same settings?)

any advice on hiring a photographer or faking a proper backdrop so I can take them at home?

Same camera, better photographer, that's all. ;)

Backdrop: Well, find a nice wall for a back-drop, for one. Then use those utility lights on stands (I'll give you a link if you need) and point them somewhat upward and/or against a white background opposite of where you're taking the photo. If you have larger, higher standing lights, you can drape a white, lightweight (very sheer) fabric over them to soften the effect. Always do trial shoots before the final photo session. Check the White Balance settings on the camera. Learn to use Photoshop or something similar. If the camera has ISO settings, play with those to get right depth of field you're looking for. Also, Photobucket and some other photo sites have editing software included with a paid account. On hiring a photographer, ask to see some of their *recent* work and inquire how much they charge and if it's by the hour or by the number of prints, etc. Be aware that signing a model's release protects the photographer and they then have license to use those photos any way they choose.

[livejournal.com profile] obsidian_blade is a professional photographer if you want to ask him questions. :)
